  • The reason is simple you cannot mail a letter for 44 cents. Look at Fed Ex or UPS what is the cheapest rate for them $7.95 good guy rate. Let the post office charge .65-.70 cents for a first class letter and they will make a profit.. They currently can only raise rates as shown by the CPI.

  • The post office going to raise the cost for 1st class by a penny!!! The congress needs to look at the Post office as a business. They should raise rates to at least 60 cents for next year and 75 cents the year after. No one can mail a letter for 45 cents and make a profit.
